Nikola Vučević, a potential trade target for several teams, reportedly expects to stay with the Chicago Bulls past Thursday’s trade deadline, according to K.C. Johnson of Chicago Sports Network. This comes as the Golden State Warriors, a rumored suitor, have reportedly shifted their focus to other players, including Kevin Durant.
While it might make sense for the Bulls to trade Vučević and continue their rebuild after trading Zach LaVine and not re-signing DeMar DeRozan, finding a suitable trade partner is proving difficult. The Bulls, currently 22-29, are not considered contenders in the Eastern Conference.
Vučević, 34, is under contract through next season, and the Bulls could benefit from trading him for draft picks or young players to accelerate their rebuild. However, with the Warriors out of the picture, potential suitors are limited. Michael Scotto of HoopsHype mentioned the Los Angeles Lakers as a possibility, but suggested the Bulls might only receive second-round picks in return.
This limited interest likely explains Vučević’s expectation to stay in Chicago. The Bulls could still explore trades during the offseason or the 2025-26 season. If Vučević maintains his strong performance, his trade value could remain, making a future trade a viable option.
