Cooper Kupp Could Be the Answer to Los Angeles Rams Offensive Woes

The Los Angeles Rams have reportedly decided to trade veteran wide receiver Cooper Kupp. This move, while not entirely unexpected given Kupp’s contract and recent performance, marks the end of his nearly decade-long tenure with the team. The Rams now face the task of finding a suitable trade partner.

Jason Katz of Pro Football Network suggests several AFC playoff contenders as potential destinations, believing the Rams will prioritize placing Kupp in a positive situation while maximizing their return. He highlights the Pittsburgh Steelers as a particularly good fit.

Katz points out that the Steelers have consistently shown interest in top wide receivers like Davante Adams, Brandon Aiyuk, and Christian Kirk. While they acquired Mike Williams during the season, he’s older, on an expiring contract, and hasn’t been very productive since joining the team.

Kupp would be a significant upgrade for the Steelers’ receiving corps. Katz envisions a strong pairing with George Pickens, with Pickens serving as the field stretcher and contested-catch specialist, and Kupp as the reliable chain-mover and go-to guy in crucial situations.

A trade to Pittsburgh would also offer Kupp a smooth transition, going from playing under the well-respected Sean McVay to another highly regarded coach, Mike Tomlin. He would also be moving from one stable franchise to another.
