Cleveland Guardians Focus on Bolstering Rotation

The Cleveland Guardians have a proven history of revitalizing pitching careers. Last year, their signings of veteran left-hander Matthew Boyd and right-handers Alex Cobb and Ben Lively all contributed significantly to the team’s near World Series appearance.

Ben Lively, known for his competitive spirit, returns this spring after a successful 13-10 season. However, Matthew Boyd signed with the Chicago Cubs as a free agent, and Alex Cobb joined the Detroit Tigers, where he is currently dealing with hip inflammation.

To bolster their pitching rotation, the Cleveland Guardians traded infielder Spencer Horwitz to the Pittsburgh Pirates for right-handed starter Luis L. Ortiz. They are also banking on strong performances from right-handers Gavin Williams and Triston McKenzie. Lefty Joey Cantillo, after gaining MLB experience with Cleveland last year, will look to improve on his inconsistent rookie season. Logan Allen will also be competing for a starting role, hoping to find more consistency than he showed last year.
