Darrion Williams will miss the 19th-ranked Texas Tech basketball team’s game against TCU tonight, the team has announced. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip-off, and Williams is listed as out with a lower-body injury.
Williams injured his right ankle during Sunday’s win against Oklahoma State and did not return to the game. This marks his third ankle injury in the past four games, although the previous two affected his left ankle. He was seen warming up with the team around 5 p.m. in street clothes and a walking boot on his right foot.
Coach Grant McCasland stated on Tuesday that Williams was a game-time decision, emphasizing that the team is taking this latest injury more cautiously than the previous ones.
Williams has been a consistent starter for the Red Raiders in all 19 games this season, averaging 14.7 points, 5.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.2 steals. He has a shooting percentage of 45.2% from the field, 33.3% from three-point range, and 84.1% from the free-throw line.
Texas Tech (15-4, 6-2) has upcoming games scheduled against No. 5 Houston on Saturday and Baylor on Tuesday.
