Indiana basketball forward Malik Reneau has entered the transfer portal, just hours after Darian DeVries was announced as the team’s new head coach. Reneau, a junior, played 94 games for the Hoosiers, starting 55, and was a consistent double-digit scorer over the past two seasons. This year, he led the team in scoring with 13.3 points per game and was second in rebounding with 5.5.

“I want to thank Coach Woodson and his entire staff for giving me an opportunity to play for the University of Indiana,” Reneau stated in a social media post. “I will miss the fans and all the great people in Bloomington. After discussions with my family, I’ve chosen to enter the transfer portal.”dson and his entire staff for giving me an opportunity to play for the University of Indiana,” Reneau stated in a social media post. “I will miss the fans and all the great people in Bloomington. Reneau’s role shifted towards the end of the season, moving to a sixth-man position. Despite this change, he continued to be a key contributor, even leading the team in scoring in four of the seven games he came off the bench. Notably, he had a standout performance against Michigan State, recording 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Reneau also reached a significant milestone this season, becoming the 55th 1,000-point scorer in Indiana program history. He was a key part of Indiana’s 2022 recruiting class, which was Coach Mike Woodson’s first full recruiting cycle. Reneau was the last remaining player from that class on the roster.
With Woodson’s departure, Indiana players have a 30-day window to enter the transfer portal. This period overlaps with the official spring transfer portal for men’s basketball. The Hoosiers opted out of any further postseason play to focus on hiring a new coach.
